Brittany Davis, LPC – Clinical Supervisor

With over 13 years of experience in the fields of mental health and drug and alcohol treatment, Brittany Davis brings both depth and authenticity to her clinical work. A graduate of Rosemont College with a dual Master’s degree in Counseling and Forensic Sociology Criminology, Brittany has committed her career to creating safe, transformative spaces for healing and personal evolution.

Brittany is the creator of The Alchemist Approach, a therapeutic framework designed to merge evidence-based practices with collaborative, integrative techniques. This dynamic style supports clients in navigating self-discovery, building self-worth, deepening self-love, and expanding spiritual insight.

Raw, unapologetic, and refreshingly unconventional, Brittany’s mission is to help clients pay homage to their pain—ensuring their experiences are never in vain. Through trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and existential approaches, she teaches individuals how to heal through their hurt, fostering growth that is both mental and spiritual.

As a Clinical Supervisor, Brittany prioritizes empowerment, authenticity, and wholeness — guiding both clients and clinicians to show up fully and evolve into the greatest versions of themselves.

Sakera obtained her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College and works as a Drug and Alcohol Therapist. She is a highly motivated and dedicated mental health professional with years of experience using therapeutic techniques and working in various settings, including Intellectually/Developmentally Disabled (I/DD) adults, Substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, medication-assisted (MAT) treatment, and Autism. Sakera therapeutically relies on evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MT), and Mindfulness. The core of her help comes from a person-centered and strength-based perspective. Sakera enjoys helping individuals explore the past, create peace in the present, and maintain consistency for the future.

Our Therapist, Dr. Kimberly Abney, is a proud graduate of Bloomsburg University (c/o 2009). There she received her B.A. in Psychology. She then graduated from Eastern University, where she successfully earned her M.A. in School Counseling. Dr. Kimberly works for the School District of Philadelphia as a Certified School Counselor. She is also a Licensed Therapist and received her Ed.D in Educational Leadership in 2020 from Gwynedd Mercy University. 

 

Dr. Kimberly has had tremendous success both in her career, as well as in the non-profit arena. Her dedication to family, her community, and philanthropy has proven that she is certainly a catalyst for change. 

 

Despite all of her incredible accomplishments, it is forever her mission to pay it forward and light a flame within everyone she encounters. Dr. Kimberly aspires to continue to educate, inspire, guide, and empower lives and communities, one client at a time!

Rakeira Brown is a trauma and grief therapist and the co-founder of Just Breathe, a dedicated private practice. Her own journey through trauma has shaped her deep commitment to the field of therapy. With a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Rosemont College in Pennsylvania, Rakeira is passionate about helping individuals heal from childhood trauma—a burden that often carries into adulthood if left unresolved.

 

As a dedicated therapist specializing in trauma and grief, Rakeira is rooted in empowering clients with the tools necessary to break the cycle of trauma, fostering healing and resilience. To create a safe non-judgmental space where clients can express themselves freely and feel validated. She honors the unique complexities of each person’s experience, providing personalized care to promote growth and recovery. Her mission is to guide individuals of all ages through their journey toward resilience and well-being.

 

Known as The Youth Therapist, Rakeira’s work extends beyond children and adolescents. The name speaks to the inner child in all of us. Childhood trauma doesn’t have an age limit—it lingers, manifesting as disappointments, emotional wounds, heartbreaks, and negative self-talk that shape adult lives. Healing the inner child is essential to breaking these patterns, and that is Rakeira’s primary focus.

 

The Youth Therapist serves all "youth," whether that refers to the inner child or to children. Rakeira’s approach empowers individuals to address deep-seated issues and foster lasting healing.

Danielle began her career in the behavioral health and human services field in 2006 working for various behavioral health programs in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties. She earned two undergraduate degrees in Human Services and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling before becoming a licensed professional counselor (LPC). In 2009 Danielle entered into the Philadelphia public school system to work with children and adolescents experiencing mental and behavioral health challenges. As of 2024, Danielle still provides mental health services to adolescents in the Philadelphia school district. In addition to working with the youth Danielle also offers individual and group therapy specializing in women’s issues in particular women of color, and the strategically underserved populations. Danielle is passionate about supporting women who are navigating challenges related to (in)fertility, postpartum, and issues stemming from menopause.  

 

Danielle has an extensive background working with neurodivergent populations ranging from autism spectrum disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (in children and adults), as well as anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and people experiencing the heightened stressors of lower socioeconomic status and oppression. Danielle believes wholeheartedly in the necessity of holistic well-being and makes it a point to emphasize this with whomever she encounters. Her greatest delight is serving people and assisting them to achieve their greatest quality of life. Danielle believes that hope and healing are essential to living a fulfilling life on purpose and that mental wellness is your greatest asset. Danielle's motto is that mental wellness is wealth.

Schante’ Y. Frazier is a devoted Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a

fervent dedication to guiding women through their transformative journey towards

healing and self-discovery. Specializing in trauma-informed therapy, grief and loss,

anxiety, depression, and the cultivation of self-esteem and confidence, Schante’

seamlessly merges her professional expertise with her Christian faith to offer

comprehensive and empowering counseling services.

With a profound empathy for the experiences of women of color, Schante’ intimately

grasps the unique challenges they confront in navigating past traumas and societal

pressures. Her therapeutic approach is deeply ingrained in empathy, cultural sensitivity,

and an unwavering commitment to fostering a secure and nurturing environment where

clients can delve into their emotions and experiences devoid of judgment.

Schante’s therapeutic style incorporates evidence-based techniques and treatment

modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy

(DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), enriched with spiritual guidance. This

integration enables her clients to undergo not just psychological healing, but also

spiritual growth. Schante’ earned her Master’s Degree from Rosemont College in

Counseling Psychology, with a certification in School Counseling and trauma-focused

counseling.

She firmly believes in the transformative power of self-care and wellness practices to

facilitate healing and to empower her clients in reclaiming their strength and resilience.

Being actively engaged in her clients journeys is paramount to her therapeutic practice.

Schante’ has spearheaded numerous inclusive events for women of color, spotlighting

their daily courage and resilience.

As a revered therapist and fervent advocate for women's mental health, Schante’ is

resolutely committed to dismantling barriers to accessing mental health care and

championing inclusivity within the therapy space. Through her tireless work, she

endeavors to elevate and embolden women of color to embrace their inherent worth,

discover healing, and flourish in all aspects of their lives.

Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Sonnia Brown is a dedicated grief therapist with a profound commitment to helping communities navigate the complexities of grief and loss, particularly those affected by gun violence. As co-owner of Just Breathe LLC, a private practice she founded alongside her younger sister, also a therapist, Sonnia strives to create a safe and supportive environment for her clients.

With extensive experience as a school counselor in the School District of Philadelphia and as an inpatient adolescent therapist, Sonnia has a special affinity for working with teenagers. Her passion for this work is matched by her dedication to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health, particularly within Black and Brown communities. Sonnia believes that healing begins with open dialogue and understanding, and she is devoted to empowering individuals and families as they journey through their grief.

Gloria Gamble is a Master’s-level therapist with over a decade of experience in the social work and mental health field. Her passion for helping others began early in life, inspired by a family rooted in caregiving and service—from teachers and foster parents to social workers and certified nursing assistants.

Since earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2011, Gloria has worked in various capacities, including Therapeutic Staff, Direct Care Staff, Residential Manager, and Case Manager. Her most formative experience came as a CUA Case Manager, where she supported families, children, and youth navigating the path toward reunification, adoption, or independent living.

In 2019, Gloria earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in trauma studies from Rosemont College. She has since expanded her clinical expertise by providing individual therapy to adolescents in residential settings. Throughout her career, Gloria has been driven by a deep commitment to client-centered care, helping individuals and families set and achieve realistic goals that support long-term growth and self-sufficiency.

Now a licensed Associate Professional Counselor (APC), Gloria is working toward full licensure (LPC) and remains dedicated to empowering families and youth to thrive. Her philosophy is simple yet powerful: if she can help even one person move toward a better future, it’s a job well done."

Jessica is a licensed social worker with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from West Chester University’s Philadelphia campus. She also holds certifications as an End-of-Life Doula for both humans and companion animals from the University of Vermont. In addition to providing therapeutic services at åAkea’s Heart, Jessica is a social worker at Special Equestrians in Warrington, PA, where she delivers therapeutic riding and equine-assisted services to children, adults, and families with diverse needs in both individual and group settings.

Jessica believes that each client’s journey is unique and healing does not follow a single roadmap. Whether employing traditional talk therapy or integrating creative and experiential techniques, she creates a safe, judgment-free environment, listens actively and honors individual pacing, collaborates on personalized treatment goals, and empowers clients to reclaim their lives.

Grounded in empathy and respect, Jessica is committed to guiding clients through life’s most challenging moments. Her dedication to holistic, client-centered care ensures that every person she serves feels seen, heard, and supported on their path toward healing.

Tory Jackson-Peterkin is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) who holds both her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Saint Joseph’s University. She specializes in working with adolescents and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, identity development, and the lasting impact of trauma.

Tory is passionate about helping young people find their voice, reconnect with their inner child, and better understand who they are in the world. She creates a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their emotions, process their experiences, and begin the healing journey at their own pace. Her approach is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in authenticity and empathy.

With a deep understanding of the unique challenges that come with adolescence and early adulthood, Tory meets each client where they are—emotionally, mentally, and developmentally. She draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches including mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral strategies, narrative work, and expressive techniques, tailoring her interventions to fit each individual’s needs.

Tory is especially skilled at helping clients who feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or disconnected from themselves. She works to empower young people to build emotional resilience, improve communication, and develop a stronger sense of identity and self-worth. Through supportive and intentional counseling, Tory guides her clients in moving from survival mode to a place of growth, healing, and self-discovery.

Shereé Parker has a Master’s in Human Services from Lincoln University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in

African American Studies from Millersville University. She is currently working on her

Doctorate degree in Clinical Sexology with a certification in Sex Offenders. She is also a Licensed Master Social Worker,  Licensed Associate Professional  Counselor, Certified Nurtured Heart Approach Trainer,  Prepare & Enrich Couples Facilitator,  and a Nurturing Parenting Facilitator. She is also a published author of three books. Also, she is a member of the Building Bridges Initiative as a Leader of Color. She has also worked in a variety of settings including school districts, residential settings, and social service organizations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She is a mission driven leader with over 20 years of experience in children and family services. She brings extensive knowledge and expertise in clinical modalities, organizational planning, policy development, and

evidenced-based practice and implementation.

Portiaatrice Morse, LMFT is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a wealth of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through emotional and relational challenges. With over a decade of clinical practice in school-based, outpatient, in-home, and virtual settings, she brings a well-rounded and compassionate approach to care.

Portiaatrice earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from LaSalle University and holds dual licensure in Pennsylvania and Florida. She is known for integrating evidence-based interventions with a culturally responsive lens to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, family dynamics, behavioral challenges, and life transitions.

Currently serving as a Clinical Coordinator for the School District of Philadelphia, Portiaatrice leads mental health initiatives, supervises interdisciplinary teams, and connects families with essential behavioral and emotional resources. In addition to her leadership role, she maintains a private practice where she offers individual, couple, and family therapy.

 

Her clinical work is further enriched by specialized training in trauma-informed care, child and adolescent development, and family systems theory. Portiaatrice also has a strong foundation in play and art-based therapy interventions and is especially passionate about incorporating creative, experiential approaches into her work to foster healing and connection.

Shanelle Guy is a compassionate healthcare professional currently pursuing her Master of Social

Work at Capella University. With over a decade of experience in care coordination, pharmacy

services, and patient advocacy, she brings a strong foundation in healthcare and a deep

commitment to mental health. Shanelle’s personal experiences with grief and trauma inspired her

to serve others, especially those in inner-city communities, where mental health support is often

limited and stigmatized. She is passionate about breaking these barriers and offering culturally

responsive, trauma-informed care to people of all ages and backgrounds. Shanelle is dedicated to

using evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), to support healing, resilience, and long-term

emotional wellness.

Jasmine Johnson is a passionate public health professional and community advocate with a deep commitment to empowering youth and families. She serves as the Community Engagement Specialist at Akea’s Heart, Inc., where she focuses on building strong partnerships, leading outreach efforts, and connecting underserved communities with critical mental health and wellness resources.

Jasmine holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Social and Behavioral Science, and a Master of Science with a concentration in Addiction. She is currently pursuing her RN-BSN at La Salle University, further expanding her impact in healthcare and community service.

In addition to her academic and professional work, Jasmine is a cheerleading coach and the author of four books. Her writing reflects her passion for healing, growth, and empowerment.

At the heart of Jasmine’s work is a dedication to creating safe, supportive, and inspiring spaces that help individuals and families thrive.

Tanya Bailey, our Billing & Quality Assurance Coordinator, ensures that the billing and accounting processes are handled accurately and timely at Akea’s Heart & Counseling Services. Since graduating from West Chester University with a B.S. degree in Liberal Studies, Tanya has provided 15 years of experience & support in the Human Services field to individuals and families in need. Along side her love of helping people, Tanya excels at organizing and handling administrative assignments.
